Translational control during early development

چکیده
In eukaryotic cells, specific sets of proteins associate with genome DNA and mRNA to package them into nucleosomes and mRNPs, respectively. Among the crucial functions of these DNAor RNA-protein complexes are to protect the nucleic acids incorporated into the complexes from attack by nucleases, to package them into compact particles and, most importantly, to regulate gene expression through complex formation and its structural remodeling.

Time Course of Degradation and Deadenylation of Maternal c-mos and Cyclin A2 mRNA during Early Development of One-Cell Embryo in Mouse
Early in the development of many animals, before transcription begins, any change in the pattern of protein synthesis is attributed to a change in the translational activity or stability of mRNA in the egg and early embryo. As a result, translational control is critical for a variety of developmental decisions, including oocyte maturation and initiation of preimplantation development. In this s...
متن کاملTranslational control of nuclear lamin B1 mRNA during oogenesis and early development of Xenopus
Cytoplasmic polyadenylation of specific mRNAs is commonly correlated with their translational activation during development. A canonical nuclear polyadenylation element AAUAAA (NPE) and cytoplasmic polyadenylation element(s) (CPE) are necessary and sufficient for polyadenylation during egg maturation. We have characterized cis-acting sequences of Xenopus nuclear lamin B1 mRNA that mediate trans...
متن کاملmRNA poly(A)-tail changes specified by deadenylation broadly reshape translation in Drosophila oocytes and early embryos
Because maturing oocytes and early embryos lack appreciable transcription, posttranscriptional regulatory processes control their development. To better understand this control, we profiled translational efficiencies and poly(A)-tail lengths throughout Drosophila oocyte maturation and early embryonic development. The correspondence between translational-efficiency changes and tail-length change...
متن کاملTemporal complexity within a translational control element in the nanos mRNA.
Translational control of gene expression plays a fundamental role in the early development of many organisms. In Drosophila, selective translation of nanos mRNA localized to the germ plasm at the posterior of the embryo, together with translational repression of nanos in the bulk cytoplasm, is essential for development of the anteroposterior body pattern. We show that both components to spatial...
متن کاملA genetic pathway for regulation of tra-2 translation.
In Caenorhabditis elegans, the tra-2 sex-determining gene is regulated at the translational level by two 28 nt direct repeat elements (DREs) located in its 3' untranslated region (3'UTR). DRF is a factor that binds the DREs and may be a trans-acting translational regulator of tra-2. Here we identify two genes that are required for the normal pattern of translational control. A newly identified ...
متن کاملTranslation repression by maternal RNA binding protein Zar1 is essential for early oogenesis in zebrafish.
A large amount of maternal RNA is deposited in oocytes and is reserved for later development. Control of maternal RNA translation during oocyte maturation has been extensively investigated and its regulatory mechanisms are well documented. However, translational regulation of maternal RNA in early oogenesis is largely unexplored. In this study, we generated zebrafish zar1 mutants that result in...
